Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how The Y Principle ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

This policy was last updated in July 2026.

What we collect

We collect personal information that you provide to us directly, such as your name, email address, phone number, organisation and role, and any information you include in an enquiry or during an engagement.

When you visit our website, we may also collect technical information such as your browser type, pages visited and referral source. Our contact form records the marketing source of your enquiry so we understand how you found us.

How we use your information

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, provide our services, manage client relationships, meet our legal obligations and improve our website and services. We do not sell personal information to third parties.

We will only use or disclose personal information for the purpose it was collected, a related purpose you would reasonably expect, or as otherwise permitted by law.

How we store and protect information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Wherever possible, we work within our clients' own systems so that client documents, communications and intellectual property remain within their organisation.

All team members operate under strict confidentiality agreements and, where required, Non-Disclosure Agreements.

Disclosure to third parties

We may disclose personal information to service providers who assist us in operating our business, such as website hosting and email providers, only to the extent necessary for them to perform their services. Where those providers store data overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.

Access and correction

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us at ask.y@the-y-principle.com. We will respond within a reasonable period.

Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Privacy Act or the APPs, please contact us first so we can investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Optional analytics cookies

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand page visits, scrolling, link clicks and use of our enquiry form. Google processes this usage information to provide website reports. We do not send the names, email addresses, phone numbers or message content entered in our enquiry form to Google Analytics.

With the same permission, we also use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with public pages through heatmaps and session recordings. Enquiry form content is masked in recordings, and private studio pages are excluded. Microsoft processes website usage data to provide these reports.

Analytics is optional and is not loaded before you accept. Declining does not prevent you from using the site or contacting us. We remember your choice in your browser for up to six months. You can change it at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection; it does not remove data already collected.

See Google’s Privacy Policy for information on how Google handles data, and the Microsoft Privacy Statement for information about Microsoft’s data processing.
